In late February, 2022 a small group tackled the Dom Dom Saddle walk. The walk began in a temperate rain forest of majestic mountain ash towering over tree ferns. Bellbirds and Whipbirds were heard along the way, or was it a Lyrebird poking fun? The rainforest gave way to woodlands of mixed eucalyptus and wattles on the eastern flank of the mount and then to more open scrub and forests of messmates, stringybarks and peppermint gums on the drier northern side. The group returned to cars via the historic Hermitage Track which was much overgrown by scratchy grasses and scrub and sticky spiders’ webs and ended with a steep ascent.
